Live From The Belly Of The Beast: Prodigy (Mobb Deep)

5 Minutes with…Prodigy from Mobb Deep
by Tony Samuel

Although Mobb Deep’s front man Prodigy is doing a 3 and 1/2 year bid, he is riding comfortably on the Billboard charts. Hard core lyrics and dope beats are quintessential trademarks of the two-man crew known as Mobb Deep. In H.N.I.C. 2, Prodigy does not disappoint with his new solo album.
Even though he is under the 24/7 supervision of the judicial system, he was still able to reach out to me. Prodigy talks about his recent success on the Billboard charts, blogging behind bars and the need for rappers to protect themselves against racial profiling. Prodigy wanted to let his fans know he is in good health and will return with a vengeance. Enjoy the 5 minutes…
TS: How does it feel to reach #3 on The Billboard Hip Hop and R&B charts?
Prodigy: It feels great; it feels great to be up with the top artists.
TS Mobb Deep has a legacy of dope tracks and hardcore lyrics. Who would you like to work with once you are able to get out of the belly of the beast?
Prodigy: You know just different people. Whoever's out there that's poppin'; that's got the hot sh*t, ya know what I mean--its all good....
TS: In this age of ring tone artist and digital downloads, how are you planning to stay relevant and differentiate yourself from the Lil Wayne's, T.I's, Shawty Lo's, T Pain's and others?
Prodigy: By doing what I do. They do what they do and I do what I do--thats it...
TS: Describe a typical day in the life of Prodigy behind bars?
Prodigy: Just work…A workaholic, just working on my mind and my body....Reading, writing, blogging on HNIC2.com.
TS: There were reports indicating NYPD was trying to get you to set up 50 Cent. How important is it for rappers to know they are being targeted and what steps can they take to not get caught up in the prison industrial complex?
Prodigy: It's very important to know that we are being targeted so we can protect ourselves. That's why I've been promoting; telling people to put cameras in their cars, instead of buying fancy rims and systems. Buy the cameras first then if you want all that, then go head. You gotta prioritize and worry about your safety, if not then hey--its on you...
Lastly, I'll be right back!!! I ain't got 25 to life. And, uhm cop that HNIC2 album instores now and the HNIC2: DVD Collection coming out in July 8th... I got lots ya sh*t to keep my fans in-tuned so check out HNIC2.com.
Peace
Prodigy

Republicans Creating More Opportunities

The Republican operatives are still creating opportunities for African Americans. Now, we have a new Governor in New York. Lt. Governor David Patterson will now be the first Black Governor in New York state history.

Thanks to the targeting of Governor Eliot Spitzer by the Republican controlled U.S. government, we now have the first African American Governor in NY state.

As an African American, all I can say is: Thank you!!!

Obama Mauls Hillary

Barack Obama Soundly Defeats Hillary/Bill Clinton

Bill Clinton's Dirty Tricks Backfires

In a crushing defeat of Hillary/Bill Clinton, Barack Obama has won South Carolina. In spite of the dirty tricks and attempts by the Clintons to create a racial divide in South Carolina, the people soundly shouted for CHANGE. Senator Obama is on his way. Yes WE can!!!

CNN now reports that Caroline Kennedy has endorsed Barack Obama in an upcoming New York Times Op-Ed. Obama is FIRED UP AND READY TO GO! Super Tuesday is around the corner!

Bill Clinton has really sullied his reputation in the minds of many African-Americans. His appeal to racial prejudice in the South Carolina race and his win at all cost philosophy has been denounced by the results of South Carolina.

The battle continues on February 5th! YES WE CAN!!!

New Hampshire Voters pull A Fast One

Hillary Comes Back

In a stunning comeback to astound the so-called experts, talking heads and media pundits, Hillary Clinton came back from the dead to win the New Hampshire primary. Despite polls showing a 13% lead by Barack Obama, the New Hampshire voters decided to stay with a familiar name and to vote for Clinton.

Either the New Hampshire voters were lying for the cameras or they decided to make a U-Turn in the privacy of the voting booth. From some people’s perspective, it seems some of the voters were just telling the pollsters what they wanted to hear. Some say they did not want to portray any racist view on national TV. Who knows? The fact remains that New Hampshire voters decided to stay with a familiar name.

Another reason could be the display of emotions by Clinton that was continually played and replayed by all media outlets. It seems she received a sympathy vote. It was impossible to not see the video of Clinton. Some people say she should either get an Academy Award or Golden Globe.

Some say negative campaigning from Clinton’s camp did the job on Obama. Hillary and her goons called Barack an empty suit and said he was creating “false hope”. As Barack so eloquently stated in his speech after the numbers came in for Hillary, "there is nothing false about hope" in these United States…

The political fight moves on to Nevada and South Carolina…stay tuned for more insights.

Obama Wins - A Defining Moment in History

Barack Obama soundly defeated media favorite Hillary Rodham Clinton in the Iowa caucus. In a stunning upset to the media darling, aka Mrs. Clinton, Mr. Obama's grassroot campaign soundly defeated the Clinton machine.

The key issue was CHANGE. The public is apparently ready for a new direction, instead of the usual Washington insider blah blah blah. Obama stands for change and new leadership.

Despite Hillary's insistence that she is the candidate of experience, the voters in Iowa apparently did not bite the bait. Does serving as the First Lady to a sitting president constitute real experience? Although the pundits and media talking heads already had a coronation for Hillary, the people of Iowa stood up and made a historic decision.

Barack has real world experience fighting for the downtrodden and the poor. He was a community organizer in Chicago, constitutional law professor, civil rights attorney and is a sitting Senator. Obama has real experience and is able to inspire those not normally attached to any political candidate, both Republican or Democrat. Barack can win, yes he can!

Barack Obama made history and is now on his way to New Hampshire. As Barack says, " I am fired up! And I'm ready to go!"
