Live From The Sunset Strip

Live From The Sunset Strip

Wu-Tang’s standout member Method Man, produces a DVD full of Wu bangers. Mr. Meth shows why he is one of the favorite Wu-Tang members by engaging the audience throughout this DVD. He produces a live show full of crowd-pleasing rhymes and a non-stop energy filled performance.

Recorded LIVE in Los Angeles, CA on the infamous Sunset Strip, this DVD is a good stocking stuffer for all Wu-Tang heads. Meth even gives some much-needed shine to fellow Wu-Tang emcees, Ugod and Inspectah Deck.

Old Dirty is memorialized with a gritty performance from Meth, U God and Inspectah Deck. Although, ODB is gone, he is definitely still alive in the minds of hip hoppas.

Method Man’s Live From The Sunset Strip is a good addition to the collection of any Hip Hop fan. I am Tony Samuel and I endorse this DVD.

Foxy Brown To Do Time

Another Rapper In Trouble
In another instance of rappers out of control, rapper Foxy Brown has been sentenced to a year in jail. After a series of high profile run-ins with law enforcement and alleged assaults using cell phones, Foxy has apparently ran out of luck and is now heading for the Big House.

Foxy is reportedly pregnant. Hopefully she will be kept away from the general community in jail and will be allowed to have her child on the outside.
First it was Little Kim, now Foxy Brown is going behind bars, with Remy Ma soon to follow...
What is going with these rappers? Don't they know they are being watched? The Hip Hop Cops is still alive and on the prowl.

50 Cent On A Rampage

50 Cent Will Retire after Sep 11, 2007?
Kanye West Is No Threat!

This week’s buzz is about the potential early retirement of rap star 50 Cent. Fifty has declared Kanye West to be an insignificant artist when compared to him. He has furhteher declared, if Kanye West sells more records than him first week out of the box, he will retire and will never put out another album. September 11th 2007 will be a battle of The Egomaniacs! Kanye West in one corner and 50 Cent in the other. Who will be the victor?
On a side note: Fifty also declared in one of his new joints, “F##K Jimmy Iovine (Interscope Records founder/boss and head of Fifty’s record label)…I ain’t got no boss”. 50 Cent is on a mission to prove to the world he is the man to beat in rap music.

There is no allegiance and no loyalty...just the power of the dollar bill in rap music. In this case millions of dollars!!!
Fifty's Vitamin water business move should be studied and he should be commended for looking beyond the music biz. That was a real power move kid. Go ahead Fitty!!!

Obama Gives Us Hope

Ladies and Gentleman, I introduce to you, Mr. Barack Obama - our next President of The United States!!??

For the first time in history we have an African American candidate that is being taken seriously by the establishment media. What does that say about our society? Can Obama really win?

I think it is Obama's time to shine. He is carrying the weight of millions on his back, due to his race and color. Will he be able to "make it happen"? Will the masses be able to vote their conscience without the psychoses of racism permeating their brain?
These are interesting times indeed!!!

Rudy The Impostor

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vaCYEEO-58I

The above link shows the real Guiliani. He is Rudy The Impostor - Exploiting 911 and the families of victims of terror.

The so-called America's Mayor...all I can remember is Eleanor Bumpers, Yusef Hawkins, Amadou Diallo and other victims of terror while this guy was the Mayor of NYC.

The World Trade Center was bombed yet he made the decision to put the nerve center of NYC intelligence in the same building, against the advice of professionals in the NYC Police Department.

Who The Hell is Joell Ortiz?

Who The Hell is Joell Ortiz?

Lyricist. Real Hip Hopper. East Coast Savior. King of NY?!!! Koch Records presents one of illest emcees out right now. Joell Ortiz (real name) is on course to be one of the most talked about emcees in Hip Hop. With a flow reminiscent of the great emcees of yesteryear, Ortiz has made it clear that Hip Hop is very much alive.

If Hip Hop was to be served in a bottle, the label would say Joell Ortiz. This kid is the truth and will be a force to be reckoned with in Hip Hop. There is a new King of New York. Brooklyn stand up!

HBO Chief in Fight After The Fight

HBO Chief in Fight After The Fight

In a scene reminiscent of The Sopranos, HBO Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Chris Albrecht was forced to resign after being arrested in Las Vegas for choking and assaulting his girlfriend. The apparent criminal assault occurred after the star studded Oscar De La Hoya and Floyd Mayweather Jr. fight which was broadcasted by HBO

Albrecht, in a scene taken from last week’s episode of The Sopranos apparently succumbed to alcohol after being away for reportedly over a decade. Like Christopher Moltisanti, Albrecht became violent and out of control.

Albrecht resigned temporarily after the news came out about his arrest for assault. He was fired after The Los Angeles Times ran a story about a 1991 assault he committed against a female HBO employee he was intimately involved with, which resulted in a $4000,000 settlement by Time Warner. Albrecht is credited as a creative force behind popular shows like The Sopranos etc.

The N Word Tax

The N Word Tax

The use of the infamous N Word needs to be regulated. There should be a tax assessed to any entity, commercial or non-profit that seeks to use the N Word. What if the day comes when record labels are charged $1000 for each use of the N Word on a record? Additionally, what if these urban movies were also taxed for each and every use of the N Word? For example, if a typical rap album has 75 incidents of the N Word, the label would be charged $75,000. If there are 13 songs on the album the tax will increase exponentially, making it a lose-lose situation.

What if the record labels were charged per disc for usage of each N Word on an album? If the record companies were charged for each usage of the N Word and each disc produced using the N word, what would be the result?

Record companies live and die by the amount of revenues they generate. An N Word tax would cause them to clean up their act and stop putting out songs degrading to all people of good conscience.

All proceeds from the N Word tax would be used to build and maintain an African American Slavery Museum in New York City and Washington D.C.

The NYC Council passed a resolution to symbolically ban the N word in the five boroughs of the city; The Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan and Staten Island. Some activists have already requested the Grammy’s to not nominate any songs that use the N word. Is this the start of a revolution?

What if the use of the N word was equated to yelling, “FIRE!” in a crowded theatre? Could the use of the N Word be one day considered a crime?

Suge Knight Evicted!!??

Reports of Suge Knight being evicted from his luxury Wilshire Blvd condo is being disputed by his longtime publicist Jonathan Wolfson.

The demise of Death Row is a sign that what goes around comes around. Negativity eventually destroys everything. At one time Death Row was the label rappers were trying their best to get signed to, but now the label is a joke and is basically an artifact.

I remember clearly when Death Row was the place to be in the 90’s. As a member of the Dirty Dozen in NYC, we hosted a rap show every Saturday night on 105.9 WNWK. I met Bryan “B-Man” Williams, the head of National Promotions for Death Row and was impressed with the whole Death row movement.

Suge Knight and Death Row use to be the bomb. What happened?

Definitely Not Gangsta

Rapper Marvin “Tony Yayo” Bernard of G-Unit and the right hand for rap heavyweight 50 Cent was arrested for assaulting the teenage son of CZAR Entertainment President, Jimmy “Henchmen” Rosemond. According to reports, the teen was pushed around and slapped by Yayo after being verbally abused.

Henchmen and Yayo have a longstanding “beef” and this apparently was the cause of the assault. This beef thing is way out of control, when 28-year-old grown men is attacking little kids.

Rap is out of control and if the allegations are true, Marvin Bernard should suffer the consequences for his act. No rational person can make excuses for this type of criminal behavior. This type of behavior is not Hip Hop.

The boy's mother said in a statement, "As a mother I am concerned that my son, who is a fan of hip hop, would be attacked by the same artist whose music he listens to. It's a shame that 50 Cent and Tony Yayo could feel comfortable slapping and physically attacking an innocent 14-year-old minor that they market and promote their records to.

This is a cowardly act on my son who has done nothing to warrant the verbal and physical abuse he received. This issue should not be taken lightly and these men should be looked upon as a serious threat to society, having taken their relentless public rants towards their rivalries to a level of extreme. This should be looked at as a step away from child molestation. I seek justice in the form of restoring my son's dignity and making sure any child can wear whatever they want without fear of bodily injury.”

One Small Step for Justice

By Tony "Rescue One" Samuel

The March 16, 2007 indictment of three NYC police officers for fatally shooting unarmed Sean Bell on the day of his wedding in NYC is not a cause for celebration, but an opportunity for justice. I feel that Rev.Al Sharpton is correct when he indicated this is just the first step. We have seen too many instances when police shoot unarmed Black men for no reason and get away with murder.

Sean Bell and his two friends were leaving a late night celebration when NYC police, for no apparent reason except they had black skins and were automatically “suspects”, gunned them down. The fact that a few of the shooters were black officers does not negate the fact that racial profiling may have been the primary cause of this murder.

Hopefully justice will be done. Driving In Black Skin (D.I.B.S.) is a dangerous thing indeed. DIBS is a term I created a few years ago to describe the racial profiling of African Americans by the police.

On another note…NYC police stopped Busta Rhymes from filming in NYC due to his non-cooperative stance in the shooting death of his bodyguard, Israel Ramirez. Busta refuses to cooperate with the police and tell them what he knows about the murder. Busta has been criticized and deserves to be criticized. Israel’s family should get justice.

On the other hand, NYC police have a longstanding policy of not cooperating when one of their own is accused of a crime. From the Amadou Diallo case to the Patrick Dorismond case, NYC police have a don’t tell-don’t snitch policy when it comes to one of their own.

I guess the NYPD and Busta Rhymes have a lot in commmon after all...
