Suge Knight Evicted!!??

Reports of Suge Knight being evicted from his luxury Wilshire Blvd condo is being disputed by his longtime publicist Jonathan Wolfson.

The demise of Death Row is a sign that what goes around comes around. Negativity eventually destroys everything. At one time Death Row was the label rappers were trying their best to get signed to, but now the label is a joke and is basically an artifact.

I remember clearly when Death Row was the place to be in the 90’s. As a member of the Dirty Dozen in NYC, we hosted a rap show every Saturday night on 105.9 WNWK. I met Bryan “B-Man” Williams, the head of National Promotions for Death Row and was impressed with the whole Death row movement.

Suge Knight and Death Row use to be the bomb. What happened?

Definitely Not Gangsta

Rapper Marvin “Tony Yayo” Bernard of G-Unit and the right hand for rap heavyweight 50 Cent was arrested for assaulting the teenage son of CZAR Entertainment President, Jimmy “Henchmen” Rosemond. According to reports, the teen was pushed around and slapped by Yayo after being verbally abused.

Henchmen and Yayo have a longstanding “beef” and this apparently was the cause of the assault. This beef thing is way out of control, when 28-year-old grown men is attacking little kids.

Rap is out of control and if the allegations are true, Marvin Bernard should suffer the consequences for his act. No rational person can make excuses for this type of criminal behavior. This type of behavior is not Hip Hop.

The boy's mother said in a statement, "As a mother I am concerned that my son, who is a fan of hip hop, would be attacked by the same artist whose music he listens to. It's a shame that 50 Cent and Tony Yayo could feel comfortable slapping and physically attacking an innocent 14-year-old minor that they market and promote their records to.

This is a cowardly act on my son who has done nothing to warrant the verbal and physical abuse he received. This issue should not be taken lightly and these men should be looked upon as a serious threat to society, having taken their relentless public rants towards their rivalries to a level of extreme. This should be looked at as a step away from child molestation. I seek justice in the form of restoring my son's dignity and making sure any child can wear whatever they want without fear of bodily injury.”

One Small Step for Justice

By Tony "Rescue One" Samuel

The March 16, 2007 indictment of three NYC police officers for fatally shooting unarmed Sean Bell on the day of his wedding in NYC is not a cause for celebration, but an opportunity for justice. I feel that Rev.Al Sharpton is correct when he indicated this is just the first step. We have seen too many instances when police shoot unarmed Black men for no reason and get away with murder.

Sean Bell and his two friends were leaving a late night celebration when NYC police, for no apparent reason except they had black skins and were automatically “suspects”, gunned them down. The fact that a few of the shooters were black officers does not negate the fact that racial profiling may have been the primary cause of this murder.

Hopefully justice will be done. Driving In Black Skin (D.I.B.S.) is a dangerous thing indeed. DIBS is a term I created a few years ago to describe the racial profiling of African Americans by the police.

On another note…NYC police stopped Busta Rhymes from filming in NYC due to his non-cooperative stance in the shooting death of his bodyguard, Israel Ramirez. Busta refuses to cooperate with the police and tell them what he knows about the murder. Busta has been criticized and deserves to be criticized. Israel’s family should get justice.

On the other hand, NYC police have a longstanding policy of not cooperating when one of their own is accused of a crime. From the Amadou Diallo case to the Patrick Dorismond case, NYC police have a don’t tell-don’t snitch policy when it comes to one of their own.

I guess the NYPD and Busta Rhymes have a lot in commmon after all...
