Who is 50 Cent?

Why is he Attacking Oprah?

By Tony “Rescue One Samuel”

Who the hell is 50 Cent? Does 50 Cent really have a beef with Oprah? I don’t think so! 50 Cent have a long established strategy of trying to foment trouble and therefore creating publicity for his next record. He has no beef with Oprah and is not even in her league.

Furthermore, I don’t see 50 Cent trying to get Oprah on his record. Oprah have a right to invite whoever she wants on her show. 50 Cent have a right to invite any artist to make a guest appearance on his album. In the immortal words of the Wendy’s commercial: Where is the Beef?

50 can invite Eminem or Dr Dre to his studio sessions. Oprah can invite Tom Cruise or Denzel Washington to Harpo studios. I really don’t care. There is no beef.

Why am I even writing about this? There is no beef! Peace!!!
The “N” Word is Still Alive!

Rappers and Comedians to Blame…

By Tony “Rescue One” Samuel

In the pursuit of riches, regardless of the detriment to society – rappers and comedians have kept the “N” word alive and thriving. Despite the history of this infamous word and the negative connotations, Hip Hoppas and comedians have embraced this word.

Is it stupidity or is it just the record companies thirst for profit at all cost that has kept this word alive in the rap industry? It seems that every rap song have the “N” word at least a half a dozen times. Record companies promote the vilest of the vile. From fake thug rappers to pseudo emcees – the rap game is currently a joke and needs to be reinvented. Despite the intentions of some to make the “N” word benign by embracing it, the word cannot escape its original intent.

It was and is a word that was designed to humiliate and ostracize an entire race of people, due to he color of their skin. Rappers and their handlers need to excise this word from every song and must be more responsible. The use of the “N” word is out of control and needs to be eliminated.

Now we have mainstream idiots, such as Michael Richards (a.k.a. “Kramer”) using the “N” viciously and attacking members of his audience with a racist and hateful tirade. I am very happy to say: I have never seen an episode of Seinfeld and will never support hate speech.

Interview With An Adult Film Entrepreneur

Vivica Rayy Splashes Onto The Scene

by Tony “Rescue One” Samuel

Vivica Rayy is a woman that knows what she wants. With a thorough understanding of business and the skills required to be a success in porn, Vivica is on a mission to expand on her brand and to take the adult world by storm. She is a new adult entrepreneur who has set her sights on being the African American version of porn queen Jenna Jameson.

Growing up in Nigeria within a class-based society, Vivica learned early on that having finances was essential to her future. Now living in Atlanta GA, Vivica is ready to use her business savvy to reach new financial heights and to cash in on the reported $10 billion a year porn industry.

Her new film Analyze This Ass is already making waves in the adult industry and her determination to be a success cannot be underestimated. Introducing, Vivica Rayy:

Vivica Rayy Interview

Tony S: I understand you were born and raised in Nigeria…how was it growing up there?
Vivica: Nothing extraordinary. Pretty cool…I played a lot…I also went to boarding school for a few years. We live in a class society…where it is pretty much rich and poor, no middle class.

Tony: Did you fall on the rich side or the poor side?
Vivica: I would say…the rich side.

Tony: So you were one of the fortunate ones.
Vivica: Yes. Thank God.

Tony: At what age did you decide to jump into the adult biz?
Vivica: I was 19. I was in college and I needed money. So, I started off dancing. Then I started my website and one thing led to another. I started making movies last year.

Tony: How many movies have you made?
Vivica: I only produced 2 movies…I would say three, but the other one is not really a movie, it is more like a video. I produced two films and one video. I got another video that will be released at the end of the year. I am graduating this year, so I decided to release a graduation DVD.

Tony: I read you are taking business management. How do you plan to use your degree to further advance your career?
Vivica: I am already using a lot of things I have learned. I dabble in real estate. I own a couple of properties that I rent out. I run my own business. So, I would say I already use my degree. The main reason why I am doing this…finishing my degree is so I can say that I graduated from college. Other than that, I don’t think I am going to be working for corporate America. I think for the most part, I will be working for myself

Tony: Do you own 100% of your production company and website?
Vivica: Yes

Tony: That’s pretty good. Who in the entertainment field do you admire…male or female?
Vivica: I would have to say someone like Oprah because she has done a whole lot and now she is like a big billion dollar corporation. Just from the business aspect… I am not an Oprah fan and I don’t watch her show. But I do like the fact that she is a very good businesswoman. On the adult side, I would have to say Jenna Jameson…because she has found a way to make her own brand. Now she is just making money off of her name as oppose to actually working…which is a place I would like to be in a few years from now. Right now she has girls working for her I would like to be the coach putting players on the field. I am more interested in running my business as oppose to becoming a porn star. I have no interest in becoming a star.

Tony: Speaking of Jenna Jameson, what would it take for you to reach a Jenna Jameson level type of success?
Vivica: First of all in house (production). You want to make sure you start off with quality production. You want to make sure you work with some top names or some top companies. You have to take time and make your movies. Make sure you have an image for a particular market that you can actually cater to. When people start seeing that you have quality stuff…you can have your things reviewed by companies such as AVN…you would need to go to conventions and network with other people. You have to be involved in the whole industry. I think the conventions are definitely the key. You can meet and talk to people face to face instead of emailing someone. You have to work with the top names in the industry. She started off dancing and then she started doing magazines and then she worked for a very good company…Wicked…a top quality production company. Then she started her own company and website because she had already built a name for herself by working with Wicked. She did a lot of feature dancing tours. It’s all about promoting…Eventually she grew to the status that she is today…It took years. I would say it took her 10 years.

Tony: Why did you start your own company instead of signing on as a contract star with a bigger company?
Vivica: I am a businesswoman so I always wanted to start my own company. I could control my own product and that way reap most of the profits. If you are just a contract star, it is like working for corporate America. The top companies that I would actually consider being a contract girl for probably won’t even look at me simply because I don’t have a name in the industry and I am brand new. The fact that I am African American might also have a play in there…

Tony: Speaking of being a Black woman in the adult industry, what kind of professional obstacles do you encounter as a dark skinned beauty?
Vivica: It’s the same thing as corporate America. People tend to pay more attention to Caucasian women. There is some type of formula, but I still haven’t been able to work it out. I wouldn’t say that being Black has hurt me in any way. I think being new is what is kind of hurting me right now. You have the stereotype of Black girls not showing up for shoots and being irresponsible. If you work on your stuff and make sure you are top-notch…top quality to the best of your ability…then people will take note of that and want to work with you. If you do things in a professional manner, eventually it will pay off.

Tony: From a marketing aspect…being an unknown artist, how do you plan to build your brand?
Vivica: Wow! That is a very tough question. I do my research. I try to see what kind of trends are going on in the industry. Just like any other business. We have a pretty good strategy as far as marketing. We plan to do a lot more appearances and convention. I can’t do as much as I would like to because school ties my schedule down. After I graduate, I plan on attending more conventions…having a guerilla street marketing team…producing quality stuff…

Tony: What makes you different and why should the public support you?
Vivica: Well. The reason why I entered the industry is to show that just because it is coming from a Black owned company does not mean it is not quality. I am quality. There is no one known African American star out there...like Jenna Jameson… I think I am on my way to that level of success. I put out quality stuff that people love.

Tony: Speaking of your movie Analyze This Ass, were you trying to make any type of statements?
Vivica: (Laughing) I got my whole idea from the movie Analyze This starring Robert De Niro.

Tony: What are you short term and long term goals?
Vivica: Short term tends to annoy me. Long term I want to make millions…

Tony: The adult industry is under attack in many circles. As an entrepreneur and a starlet, how would you defend your position?
Vivica: I won’t. I have nothing to say. You have to defend yourself if you did something wrong or whatever…I just won’t. It’s a business for me and I am just moving on.

Tony: What was your first job like in the adult biz…were you nervous? How did you feel?
Vivica: I was just ok let’s do it. I was not nervous at all. It was quicker than I expected. I wasn’t nervous at all. It was quite nice.

Tony: What kind of guy are you attracted to?
Vivica: Definitely people that don’t try too hard…educated definitely…people that I can learn from…educated older guys…intelligent, guys that own their own business…because I can actually relate to them.

Tony: Is there anything that you would not do in your biz?
Vivica: (Laughs) I won’t do drugs.

Tony: Speaking of boyfriend, how does your boyfriend handle your being in the kind of business you are in?
Vivica: I don’t think he is a fan of it. He is not very thrilled about it. The fact that he knows it is a business for me and he knows I am not trying to be a star…kind of comfort him a little. He has seen my movie and he likes it. He gives me feedback and I try to get him more involved.

Tony: Is there anything else you would like to discuss?
Vivica: Just be sure to promote my DVD Analyze This Ass. People can get it at my mall. It is in stores in Atlanta and will be coming to other cities. You can purchase it online on my website www.vivicarayy.com.

Tony: Ok, Vivica. I want to wish you the best in all of your endeavors.
Vivica: Thank you very much.

The Buzz This Week

The Buzz This Week
By Tony “Rescue One” Samuel

The Buzz this week is that Nas will release his first album via his joint venture deal with longtime foe Jay Z (Def Jam) and his longtime home, Columbia Records. Nas, considered one of the last few emcees/lyricists from back in the day, is ready to release Hip Hop is Dead. Jay Z is working on a new album that will drop in the fall. My prediction: Jay Z and Nas will be touring together real soon...

Another buzz this week centers on the alleged physical altercation of perennial West Coast lyricist Ras Kass and newcomer The Game. Ras is by far one of the illest lyricists from any coast and it is crazy that a great lyricist like Ras Kass was never able to attain the status he deserves. Due to label problems, a recent jail stint and other personal issues, Ras has been sidelined from the game.

One of the illest albums that never saw the light of day was the classic Van Gogh. It’s funny, because I recently rediscovered this gem about a month ago and have been bumping it in my ride. Ras is a true lyricist!

Instead of fighting each other, Ras Kass and The Game should have been making music together. Even Jay Z and Nas is now working together…

The Untold Story of Emmett Till

A savage murder! An old fashioned American lynching! The brutal and psychotic murder of Emmett till, a 14-year old boy is the subject of this brilliantly produced documentary.
A young boy from Chicago goes to Money, Mississippi to spend time with family members and is brutally killed for reportedly “whistling at a white woman”. Young Emmett was dragged from his bed in the middle of the night, savagely beaten, shot and killed. His body was then dumped in the Tallahatchie River in Mississippi.
Director Keith A. Beauchamp accomplished his task brilliantly. This film will take you behind the scenes and will reveal some of the pain and sorrow that was thrust upon the Till family by the senseless killing. To see his late mother talk about the first time she saw her son after the killing…it was truly heart broken and tragic…

Luke: The Real King of The South (part Deuce)

Tony S: When it comes to guys like Jay Z and Puffy, these cats basically followed in your footsteps; along with Russell Simmons footsteps…you guys lay down the blueprint. Do these guys show you any respect?
Luke: Oh yeah…I saw a interview the other day when they asked Jay Z about me and he gave me my props and I am sure if somebody asked Puffie he would give me as well. When I first met Jay Z he was with Biggie. He was just one of the cats that was rolling with Biggie…the same thing with Puff. The first time I met him he was just hanging out with some industry people.

Tony S: Back in the day, you had a celebrated battle of videos and diss songs with Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg. What originally caused that beef?
Luke: It was some stuff long time ago. I did a record…they did a record…there was a problem…I did a record on how I felt…just regular beefing and it got squashed.

Tony S: So everybody is cool today, right?
Luke: I am cool with Dre…but I have a problem with Snoop…over something that happened at a little league football game…his people was kicking one of mine...the little football kids…it almost broke out into a riot. I think he should apologize to the kid and to the kids’ parents…for his people acting stupid like they did…I have a problem with any man that will allow people in his crew to kick another kid. I got problem with him. It’s not to the point where I am going to go and beat him down. It’s something he have to deal with as a man.

Tony S: You and your crew have been responsible for a lot of hits. How do you approach the whole songwriting process?
Luke: I just put hot tracks on man…as long as it’s a party track…that’s what gets me cracking…gets me moving, ready to go.

Tony S: As a business man…what would you consider to be three of your most celebrated power moves in the industry?
Luke: Winning the Supreme Court decision. Being the first black owned and operated independent artist record company…as far as the career, being the man that I am and getting the respect from my peers.

Tony S: What were the circumstances that resulted in you filing for bankruptcy in the mid 90’s and losing your music catalog?
Luke: I wanted to get out of my contract with Sony. I was able to reject the contract in bankruptcy court. They wasn’t paying me my money! So in order for me to get out of the contract…I filed bankruptcy…Chapter 11…you can reject any contract that you wish to reject.

Tony S: Did you learn anything from this experience?
Luke: I learn things every day and when you listen to the audio book you will learn how I really feel about that whole process.

Tony S: How does a girl become a Luke dancer?
Luke: How does a girl become a Luke dancer? She has to be tri-sexual. We are having a contest around the country (Miss Freaky Soul 2006). It’s good that you asked about that. A girl just have to be real innovative, sexy, classy, educated and real sexually oriented.

Tony S: A lot of people don’t know about the philanthropic side of Luke. Tell us about the national youth football league. Tell us how and why you started this organization?
Luke: I started that program 17 years ago…I found that a lot of kids in programs did not have funding like they needed to have…So I got with my partners and some other influential business people in Miami…I started my own league…I started the program to help kids. I am giving out charters to other business people, athletes and entertainers to start their own leagues in their own cities…it’s a good way for athletes and entertainers to give back…

Tony S: That’s cool. More cats in the industry need to do things like that. As a businessman, what advice would you give to someone who is trying to follow in your footsteps?
Luke: I would tell them to read a lot of industry books. Learn about the business before you get in…don’t believe you can learn about the business by looking at a music video or a movie about the business. Learn about the business by reading books.

Tony S: Besides the music and DVD’s…what’s next in the pipeline from Luke?
Luke: Luke Adult Entertainment division…something I have been working on for the last several years…do the same thing I did for Hip hop...business wise… strip clubs around the country, DVD movies…classy movies with plots…a real interactive website and do a magazine on the level of Hustler or Playboy…do it real classy.

Tony S: Thank you and best of look in all your projects.
Luke: I appreciate it.

Luke: The Real King of The South

The name Luke is synonymous with big booty chicks, sex, the southern bounce and party music. Beyond the music and the sexual undertones, Luke is a complex man who has paved the way for the likes of Jay Z, 50 Cent and P Diddy…to do what they do in the business of Hip Hop. Luke was one of the main architects of the southern hip hop sound. He made it fashionable and accepted to be a rapper from the dirty South. With a new release of his tell all audio book and music CD (Uncle Luke My Life & Freaky Times); Luke is continuing to change the game. Insomniac gained exclusive access to The Real King of The South and this is how it went down…
Tony Samuel: Tell me about your latest project?

Luke: We have the album (Uncle Luke My Life & Freaky Times)…DVD… I have everybody on the album…I have Pitbull, Petey Pablo & Trick Daddy…I am real excited about it…I have a double audio book…all in one package. I am giving my fans something they can all be happy about.
Tony S: Do you feel you have been given the credit you deserve as a pioneer in the Hip Hop game and also as a First Amendment activist?

Luke: I haven’t received any awards. I haven’t received any lifetime achievement awards. I haven’t received any credit from the establishments that give out awards. The only credit I have gotten was from the adult industry where they give me the Freedom Fighter Award. That’s about it, but as far as the music industry…nope, no BET lifetime achievement, no Source, no Vibe…no nobody…no nothing!
Tony S: How does that make you feel?

Luke: It’s very upsetting. One of the main reasons why I did this audio book is to tell the story myself. I won’t get upset if no one says I was the first to do all these different things. It’s real upsetting that these folks in the industry don’t give any credit. I feel like I am the Rodney Dangerfield of Hip Hop.
Tony S: When it comes to the down South…Miami sound, you are definitely one of the architects of that whole genre. The artist down South and from the Midwest…do they show you any love and respect…considering you are the pioneer and architect of that genre?

Luke: Oh yeah! No question about it. They know…they show me love and when writers like you ask them questions about me, they give me my respect. They give me props and my respect…artist from everywhere, from New York, California. It’s just the industry itself…people who run all the networks; the magazines…these people give me no credit. From the VH-1 and others…VH-1 have 25 years of Hip Hop and make no mention of me or Two Live Crew. That’s a disservice. When you see things like that it’s really, really disgusting! The sad part about it, no writers…nobody picked up on that and checked them. If a person don’t get checked they will continue doing that bullsh*t!
Tony S: When it comes to guys like Jay Z and Puffy, these cats basically followed in your footsteps…along with Russell Simmons footsteps…you guys laid down the blueprint. Do these guys show you any respect?

Celebrity Mugshots

Rush Limbaugh
Added 4/28/06 -- Rush Limbaugh turned himself into West Palm Beach authorities after a warrant was filed against him on charges of fraud to conceal information to obtain prescription drugs. It's been known for several years now about his addiction to Oxycontin due to severe back pain. It's interesting, however, to note that prior to that information becoming public several years ago, Mr. Limbaugh vocalized his support of punishment for drug crimes. He, like most people that live in glass houses, probably did not associate "white collar"-prescription-drug use with other "dirty" street drugs, we're guessing. Limbaugh posted bail and charges will be dropped if he continues in a drug treatment program.

Record Executive Found Beheaded

Jimmy Iovine lost his head; 50 Cent and Eminem mourning; Suge Knight and Dr. Dre Ecstatic

Hip Hop purist say, ‘this is the signal of a renaissance’

New York, NY, April 1 - Record industry bigwig and Interscope Chairman, Jimmy Iovine has been beheaded due to his destruction and manipulation of the hip Hop art form. According to Source magazine CEO David Mays, “Jimmy should have been beheaded a long time ago. He has single handedly destroyed the Hip Hop art form and is responsible for all of the shootings and killings going on in Hip Hop.”

According to witnesses, Jimmy Iovine’s head was found on the corner of 145 and Madison Avenue in Harlem. The headless body was discovered by members of the Purity in Hip Hop Coalition and was immediately reported to the police by eyewitnesses.

The Associated Press reported that a group of underground Hip Hop purist claimed responsibility for the beheading. A graphic video depicting the beheading was found two blocks away by a sanitation worker. “ Yo, it was one of the craziest things I ever saw in my life”, said Pablo Hernandez, a sanitation worker for over 25 years.

The NYC Police Department is investigating the grisly killing and has refused to make any comments.

Kevin Powell for Congress

Kevin Powell for Congress
March 12th, 2006
www.kevinpowell2006.com

Good day to you, friend. I hope you and yours are well.

I am writing because I have decided to embark on an amazing personal and political journey. I am running, THIS YEAR, for a seat in the United States Congress in the 10th Congressional District here in Brooklyn, New York. AND I NEED YOUR HELP.

I’ve decided to do this because, as some of you know, I have been a public servant, in some form, for two decades, since my days as a teenage student leader at Rutgers University. I am completely committed to the ideals of freedom, justice, and equality, in America, and on this planet, and I am proof that much can be achieved if we are determined to make a change, personally and politically. For I am the product of a single-mother led household, extreme poverty, fatherlessness, and the kind of circumstances which have locked so many in a cycle of despair and hopelessness. But, for whatever reasons, God has made it possible for me to be a writer, and, as Dr. King put it, a drum major for justice. And running for Congress is simply a logical next step. I have watched America go through many changes over the past few years, because of September 11th, because of the war in Iraq, because of Hurricane Katrina, because of the exploitation and manipulation of our values and our differences, and I want to use my voice, in Washington, DC, on a national stage, in a way that affirms our humanity, not denies it. America is not the country it once was, but we are still not the country we can be either. It is time for new leadership, a new generation, to push us forward, and I want to be a part of that wave of fresh ideas, of new visions, for these times, for the 21st century.

The above said, I need to raise A LOT of money between now and March 31st, to be taken seriously as a candidate. Some of you may have seen the articles already written mentioning my candidacy, and know that there is quite a buzz. All of that is wonderful but, again, I need the help of prominent, well connected individuals like yourself who are able to write checks for $1000 or $2000. $2000, fyi, is the maximum you can give under federal law. WE REALLY NEED THE BIG CHECKS, but we WILL accept any and all contributions, for sure. And I ask, respectfully, that you share this note with your colleagues near and far. I am running against someone who has been in Congress for 24 years, yet has one of the worst voting and attendance records in the House of Representatives. This campaign is not just about me. It is about the kind of leadership we should have, that we deserve to have, in America. With your help, we can create a movement in that direction.

You can aid my bid for Congress by making checks payable to

And if you are interested in hosting a fundraiser for me, VERY SOON, in your home, in your city, on behalf of my campaign, where we can gather a number of folks able to write $1000 and $2000 checks, please reach out to Jennifer James, my Finance Director, at 718-757-0481 or via email at abgconsult@aol.com.

Below my signoff is a detailed BIO, in case your network of folks would like more background on my life and my life work. I am an honest man, will always be that way, mistakes and all, and I have made many, no doubt. Indeed, the kind of leadership we need more than ever must be leadership that is brutally honest, accountable, and transparent.

I thank you VERY KINDLY for reading this email, and I certainly look forward to hearing from you shortly, as time is of the essence.

Sincerely,
Kevin Powell

A year ago this month Marion “Suge” Knight, CEO and co-founder of the infamous Death Row Records, lost a civil suit to Lydia Harris for $107 million.

Harris’ ex-husband is convicted drug dealer Michael “Harry-O” Harris who financed the California based label and was defrauded of the money owed to him.

Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Ronald Sohigian declared that he plans to seize control of Suge’s personal and business assets after he refused to pay the $107 million judgment.

Suge can prevent this if he cooperated and revealed his assets to the court.

“Because he had a long history of deceiving the court and avoiding payment, I asked the court to appoint a receiver to take over. If Knight cooperates in providing the information, he can ask the court to remove the receiver. But I don't think there's a chance in hell Knight is going to cooperate,” Harris' lawyer Rex Julian Beaber told Reuters.

The Judge said that Death Row Records will be placed in receivership if Kinght does not appear at a debtor hearing next month.

Suge was not present at the hearing.
